research in your progression route
Firstly I looked at apprenticeships. The reason why I did this was that I didn't want to study at university and finish knowing that I have a debt whether I'm successful or not. So after I started to look at apprenticeships. I looked on the UCAS website to find these and what I found was level 5 and 6 courses in games design. This was bad for me because I couldn't apply for them since the course that I am doing is a level 3 meaning that I would be skipping a course, to be eligible to apply for a level 5 course I would have had to successfully complete a level 4 course. The course that they did have that was level 4 was a games tester but, personally, I wasn't too interested in it since I want to go into the design part of the industry.
After looking at Apprenticeships and realizing that I can't apply for a course in the field of work that I was looking for, I decided that there are only two options; to do a different course or to go university. I really want to pursue in the field of game design and animation, and therefore I started to look at university courses that I was interested in. The first University that I looked at was UAL (University Arts of London). Another thing, that helped me look at them is that people came into our college from UAL and they talked to us about there course and they shared their experiences. Although they had not a lot to talk about the game design they showed the animations that some of the students created and it looks really promising, In a sense that I will gain a lot of knowledge and learn multiple techniques.

university requirements
The university that I looked at is good because I am able to do it straight away if I get the right grades. Also, the university has the really good equipment to use. What is required from the college is 120 credit points which are roughly a merit. The course is levels 4-6

apprenticeship requirements
For an apprenticeship, The requirements that I will need to carry on to the next level which is level 4 and above requires the previous level to progress it also depends on the grades that I already have. For example, if I wanted to go to a level 6 apprenticeship I would need a level 5 qualification.

I looked at what an internship is because I read a short description of it and it sounded the same as an apprenticeship. So I did a little research to see what the differences are between an apprenticeship and an internship. An Apprenticeship is Where you work but you also study at the same time. Whereas in an internship it is a lot shorter and you don't study you just work and learn as you are working.
personal strengths and weaknesses
My strengths are problem-solving, so when a bug comes up in a game or animation I try different things to try and fix it, if I can’t fix it then I find a way around it. Other strengths that I have been rigging and modeling. Weaknesses that I have are being too ambitious with my ideas, my planning, time management and frame by frame animation.
cv writing
Today we had a lesson to talk about what was important in a CV and what was necessary this is because we are on the last year of our course and we will need it for getting a job for further on.
The things that we looked at that were important:
- Personal Details
- Career Aims or personal profile
- Education and qualifications
- Employment/work experience
- Achievements
- Interests and leisure activities
- Referees/References
- Suiting for what you are applying for.
These are all points that we looked at. As an exercise, we got into teams of four and there was some note about this person and we were asked to make a CV using the details that we had. Some of it was hard to do since they didn't provide some required details about them and therefore some stuff was missing.
For my CV I have already made one but I made a view changes to make is better and to make it so that it is formal. We got told that some people may receive a lot of CVs and they might only check the first page and that's why it's important to put all the important information on the first page.
Here is my CV

personal statement
Person Statement
The current course I'm doing is an animation and games level 3 course. The reason I chose this course is that I like playing and making games as well as animating. I'm really passionate about animation and games, I've always been interested in games; I play a lot of them. I'm interested in how they're made and the work it takes to make one. Making animations and games has developed into a hobby: something I do for fun and as side projects. Animating and making games, or even watching or playing, brings me a lot of enjoyment.
The reason why I want to continue in this subject is that I want to be a professional in this industry and I hope one day to be a developer of a triple-A game title. To me making games, and testing them, is not a chore; it's something that's fun and something that's very creative. Another thing that makes me want to carry on to higher education in this subject is the fact that I'll be gaining a lot more knowledge and this will help me decide to make my own game in the future.
My hobbies are playing video games and playing Table-tennis. I used to play Table-tennis seriously and enter some tournaments. I had a coach and was devoted to going really far, but after that, I started working at Mc Donalds. I stopped because I couldn't do both of them well, If I worked I was really tired and a bit fatigued and if I played Table-tennis I would do badly at work. Other hobbies I have been watching anime and drawing. When it comes to animating, I don't like being forced to animate or draw something that I don't want to unless I can draw it in my own way or style.
The reason I'm suitable for this course is that I have a relevant qualification. Also, I have experience and I have knowledge on how to animate, code and put them together as well as editing. I'm really excited to learn new things through new methods and use different programs. The programs that I have used are Adobe Animate, Adobe Photoshop, Krita, Maya, Audacity, Construct 2 and Unity. The reason I'm suitable for this course is that I really want to learn more, and I want to become greater in this field.

I have made an online portfolio, the reason I have one is so that I can show my online work to the people that may interview and show them my art style. This is to showcase the work I am capable of and what work I have produced within my course and in my free time.
interview practice with feedback
Today we did university mock interviews where we were interviewed by staff members. When going into the interview I felt slightly nervous when doing my Interview but after I shook the interviewer's hand, asked for his name and answered the first question. I was a lot more confident. "What did you like about your old school" was a question that I think that I struggled with and the interviewer also agreed that I didn't have a "strong answer".
Firstly to address it to the right target, so if it's for university then to aim it at them. My feedback said that one of the positive things that I did was to shake my interviewer's hand. "shook my hand going in and going out", another thing that was said is "confident body language", "stay calm and composed". I personally feel that the best bit of the interview is when you can start feeling passionate and when you are able to talk about a subject that you like. The bad negative bit is when you start and you feel really nervous. Overall I felt that I did really well and I'm proud of myself.I think that I have learned a lot from these mock interviews since I have had to make sure to revise the key things to do in an interview. I think that one of them that I will make sure is to always be happy, smile and be positive to show that I'm interested in the subject.
